KPMG 12th Floor Welcome Lobby
Canada Square, London · 2022
Three lifts open onto an edge-to-edge LED videowall on the 12th floor of KPMG’s Canada Square offices. It is the first thing a client sees of their flagship insight facility. When ETS was brought in, the prior partner was behind schedule, the allocated budget was already spent, and the public launch date was fixed for the end of August.
The problem was not technical. The problem was that KPMG had no way to make decisions: every option came back as a negotiation over line items. So I gave them three complete, costed paths instead.
Good: single-zone radar trigger on the existing players. ~£5.5k.
Better: eight lateral presence zones on a Nexmosphere ShopBus sensor array, dedicated Lenovo P330 Tiny content player. ~£12k.
Best: the eight zones plus three Azure Kinect cameras for full skeletal tracking and interactive art content. ~£20k.
KPMG chose which compromises fit the deadline and the remaining budget. One decision, not thirty.
ETS scope: consultancy, system design, technical drawings, equipment specification and supplier coordination. Install single-sourced to the incumbent AV supplier; content by Downstream and Cinimod. The launch date held.
Useful when another partner has missed the deadline and burned the budget, and the launch date is already public.
